The Cultural Corporation SACO has opened its call for artistic residencies, inviting creators from around the world to apply with research projects to be developed in the Antofagasta region.

The call is open to visual artists and researchers, with no restrictions regarding age, education, professional background, or other factors. Applicants must submit proposals connected to one of the following five lines of work: Astronomy; Migration Movements – Latin American Multiculturalism; Post-Industrial Heritage; Geology – Mineralogy; or Microbiology – Study of Local Ecosystems.

The main selection criteria will be the quality and potential of the proposed project, as well as its feasibility and relevance to the territory and the chosen line of research.

Selected residents will have the opportunity to carry out fieldwork for one month at the Instituto Superior Latinoamericano de Arte (ISLA) in Antofagasta, where they will engage with various experts and the northern Chilean territory. Residents are also invited to lead a workshop and deliver a talk for the community about their research process.

Following the residency, there is the possibility that participants may be invited as exhibiting artists at the SACO1.3 Biennial in 2027, depending on the research carried out, the conclusions presented during the public talk, and their overall creative potential for developing an exhibition in an international event.

Check the guidelines at the following link. The call will remain open until December 1.
